On 18 May 2023, H.E. Mrs. Phantipha Iamsudha Ekarohit, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, had a virtual meeting with Mr. Weldon Epp, Assistant Deputy Minister (Asia Pacific) to discuss ways forward for ASEAN-Canada relations, prior to the upcoming 20th ASEAN-Canada Dialogue to be held during 29-30 May 2023 in Kuala Lumpur. Both sides reiterated the commitment to further strengthening relations and cooperation between Thailand and Canada, as well as between ASEAN and Canada, particularly in the areas of trade and investment through the ASEAN-Canada FTA negotiations, MSME development, air transport, cybersecurity, disaster management, sustainable development through Thailand’s BCG Economy Model, and the establishment of ASEAN-Canada Strategic Partnership.
