Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs’ Visit to the People’s Republic of China

H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand paid a working visit to Beijing, the People’s Republic of China (PRC) on 13-14 February 2023 to meet with H.E. Mr. Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee at Diaoyutai State Guesthouse and H.E. Mr. Qin Gang, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PRC at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PRC on 13 February 2023.

Both sides discussed ways to enhance Thailand - China relations from the outcome of the meeting between H.E. General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of Thailand and H.E. Mr. Xi Jinping, President of the PRC on the occasion of the President’s visit to Thailand for the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in November 2022, particularly in the building of a Thailand - China community with a shared future for enhanced stability, prosperity, and sustainability. In this regard, both sides agreed to promote exchanges of high-level visits, trade, investment and connectivity to advance the Thailand - Laos - China Connectivity Development Corridor Outlook, and enhance synergies in logistics, supply chain and targeted industries such as electric vehicles, low-carbon industry and biomass industry, as well as cooperate on combating transnational crimes and foster people-to-people relations, especially in the areas of youths exchange, education, and tourism.

Both sides also discussed cooperation in multilateral frameworks, such as Mekong-Lancang Cooperation, ASEAN-China and cooperation under China’s Global Development Initiative and Global Security Initiative as well as extending support to each other in international fora and exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
