On 11 December 2023, Mr. Phuchphop Mongkolnavin, Deputy Director-General of the Department of International Organizations, joined and delivered remarks at a special reception held to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) at UNESCAP, highlighting the importance of UDHR as a foundation of international human rights laws and standards as well as human rights developments in Thailand.
DDG also underlined some recent human rights development in Thailand, such as the implementation of the Act on Prevention and Suppression of Torture and Enforced Disappearance B.E. 2565, the adoption of the Second National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights, and the Cabinet’s approval of the Equal Marriage Bill.
In addition, DDG Mongkolnavin also outlined the priority and agenda that Thailand wishes to push forward in her campaign for the membership to the Human Rights Council (HRC) for the term 2025-2027.
