On 20 February 2026, Ms. Suchada Maktara, Deputy Director-General of the Department of ASEAN Affairs, had a discussion with Ms. Joy M. Sakurai, Chargé d'affaires of the U.S. Mission to ASEAN, during her visit to Thailand.

Both sides exchanged views on ASEAN cooperation and ASEAN - U.S. relations, as well as key regional issues, especially efforts to address online scams, disaster management and environment, digital economy, people-to-people relations and education.
