On 23 February 2026, Thailand, as the ASEAN Coordinator on Sustainable Development Cooperation, together with the United Kingdom (UK), co-organised the ASEAN-UK Dialogue on Sustainability. H.E. Mr. Chettaphan Maksamphan, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, together with the SOM Leader of the UK and the Ambassador of Viet Nam to Thailand, jointly delivered opening remarks. The event was attended by more than 80 representatives from ASEAN Member States, the UK, UN ESCAP, and other organisations related to sustainable development.

The Dialogue discussed key areas, including green economy and finance, public health, education, and gender equality, which will help shape future ASEAN - UK cooperation under the upcoming formulation of a new ASEAN - UK Plan of Action 2027 - 2031. The ASEAN - UK Dialogue on Sustainability, recognised as one of the activities marking the 5th anniversary of ASEAN - UK relations, was initiated by Thailand as a platform for exchanges of views on policies and ideas on ways to promote cooperation between ASEAN and the UK on sustainability issues. It is also the associated event of the 13th Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD).
