On 31 January 2025, Mrs. Eksiri Pintaruchi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, hosted a luncheon in honour of and to express gratitude to Professor Emeritus Dr. Amara Pongsapich, former Representative of Thailand to the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR), who served two consecutive terms from 2019–2021 and 2022–2024.

The Permanent Secretary expressed her appreciation for Professor Emeritus Dr. Amara’s valuable contributions, which have been widely recognised throughout her tenure. She also extended congratulations to Assistant Professor Dr. Bhanubhatra Jittiang, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Political Science, Chulalongkorn University, on his appointment as Thailand’s AICHR Representative for the term 1 January 2025 - 31 December 2027, as well as expressed confidence that Assistant Professor Dr. Bhanubhatra will continue to drive Thailand’s engagement in AICHR effectively in the midst of the dynamic nature of human rights issues in the region.
