Acting Director-General of the Department of European Affairs meets with Ambassador of Sweden to Thailand

On 23 February 2026, Ms. Somrudee Poopornanake, Acting Director-General of the Department of European Affairs, had a discussion with H.E. Mrs. Anna Hammargren, Ambassador of Sweden to Thailand.

Both sides discussed ways to promote bilateral relations between Thailand and Sweden, particularly the upcoming First Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) Meeting under the Thailand - Sweden Strategic Partnership, to be held on 28 May 2026 in Bangkok; the Thailand - Sweden Sustainable Development Forum (SDF), which the Embassy of Sweden in Bangkok will host this year; and anti-online scam cooperation under the EU and OSCE initiatives. The Acting Director-General also briefed on developments in the Thailand - Cambodia border situation, emphasising Thailand’s firm commitment to the Joint Statement of the 3rd Special Session of the General Border Committee (GBC).
