On 5 July 2019, the Department of International Organisations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, together with the Department of Children and Youth, Ministry of Social Development and Human Security of the Kingdom of Thailand, and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) organised a seminar on the Presentation of Preliminary Findings of the Feasibility Study on the Withdrawal of Thailand’s Reservation on Article 22 on the Convention on the Rights of the Child, as part of “Thailand Social Expo 2019” at Challenger Hall, Muang Thong Thani. The seminar received comments and feedback on the study, which UNICEF will take into account before submitting it to the relevant Thai agencies for further considation.
At the Thailand Social Expo 2019, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also set up an exhibition to showcase the Ministry’s role on social issues and public diplomacy. This included Thailand’s roles in supporting international human rights, international cooperation and promotion of the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, as well as the Ministry’s consular services.
The “Thailand Social Expo 2019” was held during 5 – 7 July 2019 at Challenger Hall, Muang Thong Thani, led by the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, in cooperation with over 100 public, private, and civil society entities. This year’s theme was “Partnership for Sustainability” and the Expo showcased Thailand’s progress and achievements on the social agenda, including the protection and promotion of human rights and social welfare in the society.
