On 29 - 30 May 2019, H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand as Special Envoy of the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, attended the Council of Foreign Ministers meeting preceding the 14th Session of Islamic Summit of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

 

The Summit was held under the theme “Hand in Hand toward the Future” and was attended by representatives from 57 Member Countries and 5 Observers as well as international organisations. The meeting focused on issues relating to regional security and stability and other issues of interest among the Muslim world.

 

Moreover, at the sideline of the meeting, Foreign Minister Don held bilateral meetings with various counterparts, namely: (1) Foreign Minister of Bahrain where both sides agreed to strengthen existing cooperation, while the Bahraini side expressed interest to enhance interaction between Bahrain and ASEAN; (2) Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia where both sides discussed bilateral relations and ways and means to enhance ASEAN-Saudi relations;  (3) Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh where both sides discussed and exchanged views on the resolution of displaced Rohingyas ; and (4) Foreign Minister of Indonesia where both sides discussed the development of the situation in Rakhine State vis-a-vis ASEAN role.
