On 4 April 2019, H.E. Mrs. Sansanee Sahussarungsi, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand presented the model of the Royal Barge Suphannahong to the Asia and Pacific Museum. Ambassador Sansanee delivered a speech and mentioned the history and importance of the Royal Barge Suphannahong to the participants. By the end of 2019 Thailand will have a Royal Barge Procession of His Majesty the King of Thailand (Rama X). The Royal Barge Suphannahong was given to the Museum as an expression of goodwill and good relations of cultural and people to people between Thailand and Poland. Mr. Dominik Malek, Minister Counsellor of Department of Asia and Pacific from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also attended this ceremony.
The Asia and Pacific Museum in Warsaw was founded by Mr. Andrzej Wawrzyniak, Polish Diplomat who had several diplomatic postings in the Asian region and has a passion for collecting various objects of historical and cultural significance from Central Asia and the Asia Pacific regions. The presentation of the model of the Royal Barge Suphannahong is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen cultural awareness and understanding between Thailand and Poland as well as presenting the historical and cultural importance of the Royal Barge in Thailand.
