On 9 April 2019, the Royal Thai Embassy hosted a ceremony to receive a portrait of His Majesty King Chulalongkorn (King Rama V) from Dr. Veronique Godding, a great granddaughter of Gustave Henri Ange Hippolyte Rolin-Jaequemyns, former advisor to King Rama V during 1891-1901 who was bestowed the title of Chao Phya Abhai Raja for his service in modernizing the administrative structure of the Kingdom of Siam. At the ceremony, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand expressed appreciation on behalf of the Royal Thai Government and the Thai people for the invaluable portrait, which will be kept as treasure of the Embassy for admiration by Thais and Belgians. Also attending the event to witness the occasion were H.E. Mr. Pierre Vaesen, former Belgian Ambassador to Thailand, RP Robert Godding S.J., Embassy staff, as well as Thai and European scholars.

The originally framed portrait bears the Royal emblem and signature of His Majesty King Chulalongkorn, and was inherited by Dr. Godding through her Bangkok-born grandmother, Nelly Suvabha Kirkpatrick.
