On Sunday 28 April 2019, the Royal Thai Embassy in Brussels in collaboration with Thai Buddharam Temple in Luxembourg co-organized a Songkran event at Al Seeërai community centre in Diekirch, Luxembourg. The Ambassador of Thailand presided over the Buddhist ceremony and gave opening remarks on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Thailand-Luxembourg diplomatic relations. Attending the event were Mr. Claude Haagen, a Member of Parliament and mayor of Dirkirch, Mr. Claude Thill and Mr. René Kanivé, aldermen from the commune of Diekirch, Mr. Oliver Maes, Director of Political Affairs from Luxembourg’s Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, and Mr. François Kremer, Honorary Consul-General of Thailand in Luxembourg and invited guests.

On this occasion, the Venerable Phra Raj Visuddhivides, abbott of Thai Dhammaram Temple in Waterloo, Belgium, presided over the Sangkha ceremony to solemnize the event and dedicate the merits in respectful memory of the late Grand Duke Jean of Luxembourg, who recently passed away on 22 April 2019. Invited guests later participated in the water-pouring ritual marking the Songkran tradition.
