H.E. General Prayut Chan-o-Cha, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, is scheduled to visit the French Republic to attend the Commemoration of the Centenary of the Armistice of 1918 and the inauguration of the Paris Peace Forum. The Prime Minister will be accompanied by H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and high-level officials from relevant agencies.

The Prime Minister will attend the Commemoration Ceremony at Arc de Triomphe in Paris with Heads of State and Heads of Government invited by the French Republic. The Prime Minister will also participate in the inauguration of the Paris Peace Forum at Grande Halle de La Villette Exhibition Centre, where an opening statement will be delivered by the President of the French Republic, followed by speeches from H.E. Mrs. Angela Merkel, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, and H.E. Mr. Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations. On this occasion, the Prime Minister will donate three books to the Library of Peace in Paris. These books have been selected to illustrate the concept of sustainable development which can be achieved through the implementation of   His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s philosophy of “Sufficiency Economy.”

The Commemoration of the Centenary of the Armistice of 1918 and the inauguration of the Paris Peace Forum reflect the President of the French Republic’s commitment to promote the cause of multilateralism in response to global challenges and crises, thus, paving the way to sustainable peace that transcends conflicts of the past.

The participation in these events is of symbolic importance to Thailand as an independent nation that had bravely fought shoulder to shoulder with allies in World War I and reflects Thailand’s readiness to cooperate and work closely with the French Republic and the international community in building lasting sustainable peace together.
