H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, is scheduled to travel to Singapore during 12 – 15 November 2018 to attend the 33rd ASEAN Summit and Other Related Summits. Prior to the Summit Meetings, the Minister of Foreign Affairs will attend the 18th ASEAN Political-Security Community (APSC) Council Meeting and the 22nd ASEAN Coordinating Council (ACC) Meeting on 13 November 2018. He will join the Thai delegation led by H.E. General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, to the ASEAN Summit and Other Related Summits, as well as bilateral meetings scheduled during 13 - 15 November 2018.
The ACC Meeting will be convened to prepare for the 33rd ASEAN Summit and Other Related Summits, and will finalise the schedule, meeting agenda, protocol matters, and outcome documents. The Meeting will also follow up on the implementation of relevant decisions agreed upon at the 32nd ASEAN Summit, which will be reported by the Secretary-General of ASEAN. During this session, Thailand will emphasise several important issues, such as Thailand's progress on the ASEAN Smart Cities Networ. As ASEAN Coordinator on Sustainable Development Cooperation, Thailand will also report to the ACC on the progress of enhancing the complementarities between the ASEAN Community Vision 2025 and the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Agenda. The Minister of Foreign Affairs will also present the Concept Note-Terms of Reference for the ASEAN Centre for Sustainable Development Studies and Dialogue to be adopted by the ACC and presented to the 33rd ASEAN Summit for notation.
The APSC Council Meeting is held at least twice a year prior to the ASEAN Summit Meeting. It will follow up on the progress of ASEAN Sectoral Bodies and other relevant meetings under the Political-Security Community Pillar, as well as the progress of the implementation of the APSC Blueprint 2025. Thailand will place emphasis on issues such as, promoting a rule-based, people-centred ASEAN Community; connecting the connectivities within ASEAN and between ASEAN and other regional cooperation frameworks; promoting sustainable development to reduce development gaps within the region; and discuss measures to tackle non-traditional threats including cyberattacks, transnational crimes as well as ways to improve border management
