On October 8, 2018, the Royal Thai Consulate-General, Los Angeles, Team Thailand of Los Angeles, especially the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Los Angeles Office, and the Thai Trade Center in Los Angeles, supported by Thai Beverage PCL (Chang Beer), Kasikorn Bank, and Los Angeles Fashion Week organized a Thai fashion show: “Elegant Thailand Los Angeles Fashion Week 2018” at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles. The show consisted of five top fashion brands from Thailand, namely: 1) ISSUE Thailand by Mr. Bhubawit Kritpholnara, 2) Q DESIGN & PLAY by Mr. Praphat Somboonsitti, 3) ICONIC by Mr. Akravuth Pantumwanich, 4) LALALOVE by Ms. Linda Charoenlab, and 5) SARRAN by Mr. Sarran Youkongdee. The event aims to promote Thai fabric and young designers to Los Angeles fashion industry, and Thai culture in accordance with Thailand 4.0 economic policy.

The opening ceremony started with a video of lives in Bangkok, followed by a short Khon performance (traditional Thai mask dance). Consul-General Tanee Sangrat gave opening remarks, expressing appreciation to the Thai designers, Team Thailand, and all of the sponsors who have contributed to the success of this event. The theme of this Spring/Summer 2019 fashion show of the five Thai brands was “Thai fabrics and designs,” and the performance of traditional Thai puppet theatre during SARRAN’s jewelry fashion show was one of the event’s highlights.

This year marked the second year of the Thai fashion show in the LA Fashion Week. There were more than 500 attendees from fashion industry, buyers, business sectors, media, and the Thai community in Los Angeles. After the show, the Thai designers had meetings with potential buyers and fashion agencies in Los Angeles to develop business relations and networking.
