Thailand Contributes to the United Nations Fund for South-South Cooperation to Scale up South-South Cooperation

           On 28 September 2018, H.E. Mr. Thani Thongphakdi, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, had a bilateral meeting with Mr. Jorge Chediek, Envoy of the Secretary-General on South-South Cooperation and Director of United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC), during the 73rd Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA73). Both sides discussed various issues including the expansion of collaboration between Thailand and UNOSSC to promote South-South Cooperation, where Thailand is keen to share Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP) for sustainable development, ASEAN’s success story for regional integration, and Thailand’s priority during the Chairmanship of ASEAN in 2019 and at the UN High-Level Conference on South-South Cooperation or BAPA+40 in March 2019.

           The UNOSSC Director also expressed his sincere appreciation for Thailand’s consistent support after H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, approved the contribution of USD 50,000 to the United Nations Fund for South-South Cooperation (UNFSSC) to further create tangible outcomes and more impact on the ground through South-South Cooperation.
