On 28 September 2018, H.E. Mr. Thani Thongphakdi, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Foreign Affairs, represented the Royal Thai Government at the Foreign Policy and Global Health (FPGH) Initiative annual breakfast meeting on the margin of the 73rd United Nations General Assembly (UNGA73) under the theme “Nutrition”.

The Initiative exchanged views on the underlying importance of nutrition in all development dimensions and achieving SDGs, and also the linkages between nutrition and other policies, such as commercial and environmental determinants of health.  The meeting shared experiences in multi-sectoral approaches to improving the population’s health through regulations that ensure better nutrition, and working with the private sector as well as civil societies to promote awareness to eat better and live better. The meeting also endorsed the Ministerial Communiqué that affirms the Initiative’s continued efforts in fostering bold political commitments from the international community on important health agendas, and promoting greater synergy between foreign policy and global health.
