          The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of the Interior of the Kingdom of Thailand will co-organise a meeting between Thai envoys to neighbouring countries and Border Provincial Governors under the theme “Synergised efforts to enhance security, prosperity, and sustainable development in the Border Provinces”, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs during 9 - 10 August 2018. The goal of this meeting is to boost collaboration between the two Ministries to implement the 20-year National Strategy and Sustainable Thainess policy.
          On 9 August 2018, the Thai Ambassadors and Consuls-General to Cambodia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, and Viet Nam and the 32 Border Provincial Governors of Thailand, together with representatives from 19 agencies, will participate in a workshop to discuss opportunities and challenges in the evolving and dynamic sub-region as well as identify joint projects and collaboration mechanisms between the two Ministries. 
          On 10 August 2018, H.E. General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of Thailand, will chair the plenary session to provide policy guidelines and feedback in response to the joint proposals of the workshop. H.E. Mr. Somkid Jatusripitak, Deputy Prime Minister, along with H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and H.E. General Anupong Paochinda, Minister of Interior, will also contribute to the discussion. 
          Through combined efforts, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Interior aim to produce tangible benefits to the local people and economy, and beyond through the following goals:
          1. Security: To promote security and stability within the sub-region through cooperation with neighbouring countries based on trust and confidence as well as to create safe border areas, with a decrease in transnational crimes;
          2. Prosperity: To enhance continuous growth of trade and investment between Thailand and its neighbouring countries and to promote connectivity in mainland Southeast Asia, particularly how local economy can benefit from globalisation and regionalisation;
          3. Sustainable Development: To reduce development disparities in border provinces and uplift the quality of lives for people through inclusive and integrated government services as well as to promote sustainable development in the sub-region that leaves no one behind.
