On 29 May 2018, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, on behalf of the Royal Thai Government, extends best wishes on the international recognition of the Day of Vesak. The message is as follows:

Today is Vesak day, the day that marks the birth, the attainment of enlightenment, and the passing away of the Lord Buddha. In 1999, the United Nations General Assembly resolved that the Day of Vesak be internationally recognized and appropriate arrangements be made each year to observe the Day of Vesak.
The teaching of the Lord Buddha stresses the realization and achievement of an individual's greatest potential through learning and continuous self development, which will benefit both the individual and society, and bring about sustainable development for the society and the world.
On behalf of the Government and the people of Thailand, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to send its best regards to everyone. May happiness and peace be with all.
