On 29 March 2018, the Royal Thai Embassy organized the Australia-Thai Association (Canberra) – ATA and Thai Students BBQ Dinner 2018 at the Sala Thai.  This is the 4th consecutive year of hosting this event.  Its objective is to provide the Embassy’s officials, ATA members and Thai students from ANU, UC, and ADFA with opportunity to mingle and get to know each other better as well as welcome the Thai new students who have just arrived Canberra.  The Embassy hopes that the friendship developed from this event will lead to more joint activities and cooperation among Thai students, ATA members, and the Embassy in the future.

Mrs. Thippawan Supamitkitja, Chargé d’Affaires a.i., gave the welcoming remarks and introduced some of the Embassy’s activities that the students could participate in such as hosting/broadcasting a Thai CAN Radio on 91.1FM, writing an article for Thai Town News once a month, and taking part in the Thai Food and Cultural Festival which has been held annually at the Embassy and has been one of the most anticipated cultural events in Canberra.

Mrs. Natsuda Pittman, President of ATA, also gave the remarks and introduced some of ATA’s activities that the students could join.  There were Icebreaker games to encourage the exchange of communication and interaction between attendants so they become acquainted with each other.  In addition, there was a panel discussion on “Living and Studying in Canberra” by the representatives from ANU and UC students and President of the ATA to share information and experience with the students. There were approximately 100 people attended this event.
