Thailand and Singapore will conduct Joint Training Programmes to Support Human Resource Capacity Building and Narrow the Development Gap in ASEAN and Timor - Leste

          On 30 June 2017, Ms. Suphatra Srimaitreephithak, Director – General of the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, attended the 2017 Technical Cooperation Meeting in Singapore with Mr. Heng Aik Yeow, Director – General of Technical Cooperation Directorate (TCD), Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore, to review the 2016 implementation outcome and discuss the 2017 Work Plan under the Thailand – Singapore Third Country Training Programme (TCTP). 
 
          In 2016, TICA and TCD jointly conducted four capacity building courses under the theme of Food Security and Agriculture. More than 70 officials from the ASEAN Member States and Timor – Leste attended the training programmes.
 
          For the 2017 Work Plan, TICA and TCD will conduct four training courses under the theme of Trade Facilitation and Public Health for the ASEAN Member States and Timor-Leste.  In support of the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, both sides are committed to reinforce Global Partnership (Goal 17). This partnership will contribute in efforts to attain Goal 3 (to promote good health and well-being), and Goal 8 (to promote decent work and economic growth). 
This partnership will also contribute to the ASEAN vision of an integrated and cohesive ASEAN Community.
 
          The Government of Thailand and the Government of Singapore have jointly extended technical cooperation to ASEAN Member States particularly CLMV and Timor-Leste by conducting capacity building courses under trilateral cooperation since 1997.
