On 1 December 2016, the Royal Thai Embassy in Brasília organized a memorial mass for His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Brasília, as a merit making to mark the 50th day of mourning for King Bhumibol. More than 150 representatives from diplomatic corps in Brasília, Team Thailand in Brazil, and the Thai comminuty attended the mass.

      In this occasion, H.E. Pitchayaphant Charnbhumidol, Ambassador of Thailand to Brazil, and Her Excellency Ambassador Maria Luiza Ribeiro Viotti, Undersecretary-General for Asia and the Pacific, Ministry of External Relations of Brazil, delivered tribute remarks, focusing on His Majesty´s life-long dedication during His 70-year reign. During the mass, the Royal Compositions of His Majesty King Bhumibol, namely “Falling Rain” and “Love in Spring” were also performed as a remembrance to the musical talent of His Majesty King Bhumibol.  

      Moreover, the Embassy published an article in Correio Braziliense, the local Brazilian newspaper, entitled “No lugar do ópio, as flores” which means “in the place of opium, the flowers”, as a tribute to His Majesty’s devotion and contributions to the improvement of livelihood and well-being of the Thai people.
