On 17 - 18 September 2016, the Royal Thai Embassy, Team Thailand in Moscow and the Government of Moscow organized the 3rd Thai Festival in Moscow, this year under the theme “Food, Film and Fun Fest”, at the walking street Kuznetsky Most in the heart of Moscow. The Festival has been held annually for 3 consecutive years with a view to strengthening the bilateral relations between Russia and Thailand at all levels, promoting “Thainess” in all dimensions (i.e. Thai culture, arts, tourism, products and services) among Muscovites and Russiansม and preparing for the celebration of the 120th anniversary of the Russian-Thai diplomatic relations next year.
The Festival was a great success. The opening ceremony was attended by Minister Sergey E. Cheremin, Head of the Department for External Economic and International Relations, Government of Moscow, representatives from the diplomatic corps in Moscow, the CP Group, Thai Airways International Co. Ltd., and the media, among others. More than 50,000 Muscovites and tourists came and enjoyed the authentic Thai “Food” from a Thai Select restaurant and Thai food tasting provided by the Ambassador’s Residence, as well as Thai agricultural products from the Thai Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives; the Thai “Film”, Vanishing Points, and movie posters and movie trailers showcased in the Festival; and the “Fun” during cultural performances, Thai massage, demonstration of Thai handicrafts, and Thai language lessons by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (Tak Office), Moscow State University and the Gorky Institute of World Literature, Kasem Bundit University and Keaw Samrit (Muay Thai) Boxing school.
