             On Sunday 11 September 2016, the Royal Thai Embassy in Canberra with Team Thailand in Australia organized “the 14th Thai Food and Cultural Festival” at the Royal Thai Embassy. The Festival is held annually and has been one of the most anticipated cultural events in Canberra. There are approximately 6,000 people attended this year event.
            The theme of this year festival is “A Celebration of Thai Silk” in homage to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit of Thailand and for her relentless dedication in promoting Thai silk around the world. There are various exhibitions including Thai silk and silk products by the Queen Sirikit, Department of Sericulture, “Unseen Thai Silk” and “World of Thai Silk” displaying exquisite traditional Thai silk and modern dresses made from different types of silks and unique techniques. Both traditional dresses and modern silk clothes were also demonstrated in the fashion show in the grand finale.
             The Festival showcased a special performance by “Tachaya” winner of 14 gold medals from World Championships of Performing Arts 2016, and a special appearance of Miss Madeleine Cowe, Miss World Australia 2016 as Brand Ambassador of Tourism Authority of Thailand, which attracted huge interest of the audience. In addition, there are Thai foods and desserts, Thai handicrafts, cultural performances, and Muay-Thai demonstration to highlight the outstanding artistic, diversity, and creativity of Thai culture. 
            The Festival aims to foster the unity and the appreciation of the multicultural society in Australia through appreciation of each other culture.
