On Thursday, 4th August 2016, H.E. Mr. Peerasak Chantavarin, Ambassador of Thailand presided over the opening ceremony of the “Cleaning Day 2016: Thai Students United for Al-Azhar” at the Faculty of Theology, Al-Azhar. The Royal Thai Embassy, in cooperation with the Thai Students’ Association in Cairo under Royal Patronage and the Faculty of Theology, Al-Azhar University organized this event in order to celebrate the 84th Birthday Anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit of Thailand on 12th August 2016 and to enhance the spirit of community services among Thai youths, as well as to show their symbolic gesture of gratitude towards Al-Azhar. There were 200 Thai students and 50 Egyptian Students joining hand in cleaning building of the faculty which was the first time that the Egyptian students were cordially invited to join this memorable event.  

            Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Al-Awari, the dean, together with executive officers of the Faculty, as the representatives of the Office of the Grand Imam Sheikh of Al-Azhar and the Al-Azhar University warmly welcomed His Excellency and praised Thai students for their good and humble behavior and sincere contribution to the faculty and university which set a good example to Al-Azhar’s students.
