On 5-6 July 2016, H.E. Mr. Thongloun Sisoulith, Prime Minister of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR), will pay an official visit to Thailand at the invitation of H.E. General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of Thailand. The Prime Minister of the Lao PDR will be accompanied by 13 delegates at the Ministerial level overseeing foreign affairs, trade and investment, energy, socio-cultural and tourism, labour, security, education, and transportation.
The Prime Minister of the Lao PDR is scheduled to arrive in Bangkok on 5 July 2016. In the evening of the same day, HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn will graciously host a dinner in honour of the Prime Minister of the Lao PDR at Sra Pathum Palace.
On 6 July 2016, the Prime Minister of the Lao PDR will have a bilateral meeting with General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of Thailand. Issues expected to be raised are regional connectivity and infrastructure development, trade and investment, cross-border tourism promotion, and development cooperation. Moreover, during the official visit, the Memorandum of Understanding on Labour Cooperation will be signed, with an aim to promoting skills development, employment, and protection of labours.
In the afternoon of 6 July 2016, Rajamangala University of Technology Isan will confer an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Business Administration (Management) upon the Prime Minister of the Lao PDR. Subsequently, the Prime Minister of the Lao PDR will deliver a keynote speech “Lao PDR to the Future of Development” at Khon Kaen University, after which the Prime Minister of the Lao PDR will bestow Medals of Friendship upon Committee Members of Thai - Lao Association for Friendship.
Prime Minister of the Lao PDR's first official visit to Thailand provides an opportunity for the two leaders to set future directions towards further enhancing and strengthening bilateral cooperation ties.
