Thailand will host the 4th Green Mekong Forum

On 13 June 2016, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan will co-host the Fourth Green Mekong Forum at Conrad Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand. The Forum will be co-chaired by H.E. Mr. Kallayana Vipattipumiprates, Ambassador attached to the Ministry, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and Mr. Takeshi Osuga, Deputy Director-General for the Southeast and Southwest Asian Affairs Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.

The Forum will focus on “Quality Infrastructure” and “Water Resource Management”. Speakers are representatives from government and intergovernmental agencies and local authorities from Japan and the Mekong countries.

Participants will exchange views on environmental issues and challenges facing the Mekong region, in line with the Mekong-Japan Cooperation’s “Action Plan for ‘A Decade toward the Green Mekong’ Initiative”, adopted at the First Mekong-Japan Summit in 2009.

The Forum is a key activity under the Mekong-Japan Cooperation process which highlights the significance of sustainable growth and economic development, as well as addressing common challenges faced by Japan and the Mekong countries including Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand and Viet Nam.
