On 13-14 May 2016, the Royal Thai Embassy in Cairo, in cooperation with the Egyptian Muay Thai Association (EMTA), organized “Muay Thai Egypt Cup 2016” at Cairo Stadium Hall No. 3 in which 69 Muay Thai boxers, including 5 foreign boxers, competed in 
8 weigh class (6 men weigh class and 2 women weigh class).

            At the opening ceremony on 13 May 2016, H.E. Mr. Peerasak Chantavarin, Ambassador of Thailand, said that the Royal Thai Embassy organized this championship with an aim to promote Muay Thai to become more well-known and popular among sport players in Egypt. At the ceremony, there are Thai traditional dance and Wai Kru Muay Thai performances which received a round of applause from the impressed audience. 

           The final round of all 8 weigh class was held in the evening of 14 May 2016 and was attended by many Egyptians and Thais as well as a member of diplomatic corps who are  interested in Muay Thai.
