         On 15 March 2016, H.E. Mr. Chaisiri Anamarn and Mrs. Pornpimol Kanchanalak, Advisors to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, presided over the presentation of alms and offerings to Sri Lankan monks who had brought over Lord Buddha’s Relic to Thailand and monks from Pitchayayatikaram Temple at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. H.E. Mrs. Kshenuka Seneviratne, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Thailand, Ms. Penprapa Vongkovit, Acting Director-General of the Department of South Asia, Middle East and African Affairs, officials from the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Bangkok, the Secretariat Department of the Ministry of Defense, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs attended the ceremony.

          The Buddha Relic which is now temporarily enshrined at Pitchayayatikaram Temple, Bangkok, was bestowed to Thailand by the Government of Sri Lanka during Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Dr. Somkid Jatusripitak’s official visit to Sri Lanka between 8 – 12 March 2016. A ceremony to bestow the Lord Buddha’s Relic upon Thailand was held at the Deputy Prime Minister’s courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Maithripala Sirisena, President of Sri Lanka on 11 March 2016. After enshrined in Bangkok, the Relic will then be brought to Khosamang Khalaram Temple, Nakhon Phanom Province for its permanent enshrinement.
