The Department of International Economic Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Thailand, in collaboration with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) will hold a Seminar on “OECD Economic Outlook for Southeast Asia, China and India 2016” on Wednesday 20 January 2016 14.00 – 16.00 hrs. at Narathip Auditorium, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Mr. Apichart Chinwanno, the Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs will deliver opening remarks. The event will be moderated by Mr. Chutintorn Gongsakdi, Director-General of the Department of International Economic Affairs.
The 2016 Economic Outlook, which is an annual report, will be presented by Mr. Kensuke Tanaka, Head of Asia Desk, OECD Development Center, with the focus on major mid-term macroeconomic trends in ASEAN, China and India or the “Emerging Asia”, the regional economic integration process in light of the post-2015 ASEAN Economic Community. Experts from Thailand’s National Economic and Social Development Board (NESDB), Ministry of Finance and Bank of Thailand will participate as panelists to share their views on the report.
The convening of this seminar marks the launch of the Outlook’s edition 2016 in Thailand after the official presentation by OECD DC at the ASEAN Business Investment Summit in November 2015 in Kuala Lumpur. Since 2011, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been hosting similar events in collaboration with OECD DC to provide an opportunity for stakeholders from public, private, and academic sectors as well as diplomatic and foreign missions in Thailand to learn and exchange their views on regional economic situation. It is also an excellent occasion to raise public awareness about the OECD in Thailand and ASEAN at large in order to promote knowledge sharing and collaboration between Thailand and the OECD.
