            On 30 November 2014, the Royal Thai Embassy in Brasilia held a reception, together with a “Candle – Lighting” ceremony to celebrate the 88th Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej and  the National Day of Thailand at the Grand Hall, the Royal Tulip Hotel. More than 350 high-ranking officials from the Government of Brazil, diplomatic corps and Brazilian business sector participated in the said reception.
 
            On this auspicious occasion, H.E. Mr. José Alfredo Graça Lima, Undersecretary General for Political Affairs II, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil, presided over to deliver the congratulatory remarks on behalf of the Government of Brazil.  H.E. Mr. Pitchayaphant Charnbhumidol, Ambassador of Thailand to Brazil, then, delivered well-wishing remarks paying tribute to His Majesty the King and to His life-long dedication to improve the livelihood of Thai people and promote development of Thailand. 
 
            He mentioned about the progress and development of the political and economic situation of Thailand, the reforms in many areas, the role of Thailand as the Chairman of G77 in 2016 and the readiness of Thailand and other ASEAN member states to become the ASEAN Communities. He also commended the close and cordial friendship between Thailand and Brazil. The bilateral cooperation has expanded in all areas.
 
            In addition, the Embassy organized the “Candle – Lighting” ceremony to pay respect and tribute to His Majesty the King of Thailand. The Royal Salute March or “Sadhudee Maha Raja” song was played in the Ball Room. Banners of H.M. the King’s Works and Achievements as well as banners of Thai culture and tourist attractions were displayed.
