                On 21 – 22 November 2015, H.E. General Prayuth Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of Thailand and H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, will attend the 27th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This is the second Summit of the year 2015 under Malaysia’s Chairmanship, which will be handed over to Lao People’s Democratic Republic on 1 January 2016.

                 It is an auspicious occasion where we launch the establishment of the ASEAN Community on 31 December 2015, the ASEAN Community Vision 2025 and the ASEAN Community Blueprints 2025 for the next ten years (2016-2025), namely the ASEAN Political-Security Community, ASEAN Economic Community and ASEAN Socio-cultural Community. These documents will set the future direction for the ASEAN Community that is people-centered, rules-based and inclusive. 

                There will be altogether ten Summits, which are the ASEAN Summit, the Summits between ASEAN and its Dialogue Partners including China, Japan, India, the United States, the Republic of Korea, the United Nations, the 40th Anniversary Commemorative Summit with New Zealand, the ASEAN Plus Three Summit, and the East Asia Summit (EAS). Furthermore, the ASEAN Plus Three Leaders’ Interface with the East Asia Business Council will also be held for the first time.

                 In this occasion, the Prime Minister will join his ASEAN Colleagues in announcing the establishment of the ASEAN Community and exchange views on how to further strengthen ASEAN to be a Community that is resilient and sustainable, where everyone has a stake and no one is left behind.  Furthermore, the Leaders will discuss the regional and international issues of mutual interest and concern, and ways to address emerging challenges that may arise from deeper integration and enhance regional connectivity, including transboundary haze pollution, climate change, disaster management and transnational crime. The Leaders will also discuss how to further enhance the ASEAN external relations, including strategic partnership with New Zealand and the United States.

                 Moreover, the ASEAN Leaders will sign three documents, which are 1) 2015 Kuala Lumpur Declaration on the Establishment of the ASEAN Community 2) Kuala Lumpur Declaration on the ASEAN 2025: Forging Ahead Together and 3) ASEAN Convention Against Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women and Children. In addition, they will also adopt twenty outcome documents, which reflect their commitment in promoting further the cooperation among ASEAN Member States and between ASEAN and its Dialogue Partners.
