As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility activities giving back to Washington and DC metro area communities, the Royal Thai Embassy contributed “A Taste of Thailand”, an authentic Thai dinner at the historic Thai ambassador’s residence, as one of prizes in the “Youth For Tomorrow” auction, held earlier on 13 May 2015.

 

           On that exciting night of the auction, Mr. Kevin Cole, CEO of the Ennis Electric Company, and his wife won the “A Taste of Thailand” prize at $10,000, a staggering contribution to the Youth For Tomorrow’s “Discover Embrace Empower” mission – that is to provide children and families with the opportunity to focus their lives and develop the confidence, skills, intellectual ability, spiritual insight and moral integrity - each based on Godly principles, resulting in positive changes to the benefit of the child, the family, the community, and the nation.

 

            With delight, Ambassador Pisan and Mrs. WanchanaManawapat hosted a dinner in honor of Mr. Kevin and Mrs. Karen Cole, Winner of “Youth For Tomorrow” Charity Auction, and their guests, with Mrs. Susan LaPierre, President of Board of Trustee of “Youth For Tomorrow” as special guest, at the Thai Residence on 13 September 2015.

 

            Apart from delicious Thai authentic cuisine, including Tod MunPla and Tod MunGoong (fish cake and shrimp cake), Tom Yam Lobster, Pad Thai and grilled prawn with tamarind sauce, Som Tum (papaya salad), Nam Tok (grilled beef with spicy sauce) as well as American’s most favorite Thai dessert, Mango with Sticky Rice, all guestswere also treated with a wonderful surprise of traditional Thai classical dances, including “Kridaphiniharn” blessing dance and “SerngKratip” or sticky rice basket dance, a famous folk dance from the northeastern part of Thailand.

 

            During the dinner, Ambassador Pisan also shared with his guests the history and significance of Thai – U.S. relations which have been growing from strength to strength for more than 182 years. His Majesty King BhumibolAdulyadej of Thailand was also born in Massachusetts in 1927, the only monarch to be born in the United States. This fact has indeed created a special bond between the two countries.

 

            Throughout the evening, the atmosphere had been nothing but warm and cordial, representing a good example of closer friendship through shared good cause.

 

            Earlier on 23 June 2015, Ambassador Pisan and Mrs. WanchanaManawapatalso hosted a dinner in honor of Mr. and Mrs. A. Scott Bolden, “A Taste of Thailand” winner at the Children’s Ball 2015 Auction, and their guests at the Thai Residence.
