During 29 – 30 August 2015, Mr. NorachitSinhaseni, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs led members of Diplomatic Corps in Thailand from 22 countries and their spousesto visit the royal-initiated projects in SamutSongkhram and SamutSakhon Provinces.
During this trip, the diplomats and their spouses visited AmphawaChipattananurak Conservation Project, a Royal Project initiated by Her Royal Highness Princess MahaChakriSirindhorn, and enjoyed various activitiesincluding traditional Thai puppet, music and coconut sugar making demonstration. Throughout the visit, diplomatic corps and spouses were impressed with roles of Their Majesty the King and Queen in improving quality of life of Thais and preserving folk wisdom and Thai traditions based onSufficiency Economic Philosophy.
Diplomats and their spouses also visited the King Rama II Memorial Park to learn about literatures written by the King Rama IIshowingHis Majesty’s royal gracein preserving Thai arts and cultures. In SamutSakhon, they visited Baan Don Kai Dee Benjarong Village Community where art of makingBenjaronghas been preserved by local people for 20 years.
The Diplomatic Corps trip has been arranged annually by Protocol Department to promote mutual understanding and strengthen relationship between Ministry of Foreign Affairs and members of Diplomatic Corps in Thailand, as well as to reassure our country safety and potential as a tourist destination of the region.
