On 28 August 2015 H.E. Mr. Bansarn Bunnag, former Ambassador of Thailand to Poland (currently Ambassador of Thailand to Singapore), received the Commander’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland. On behalf of H.E. Mr. Bronislaw Komorowski, the President of the Republic of Poland, H.E. Mr. Zenon Kuchciak, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to the Kingdom of Thailand presented the award at the ceremony that took place at Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Bangkok.

The Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland, first awarded in 1974, is given to foreigners or Poles residing abroad for distinguished contribution to international cooperation or cooperation between Poland and other countries. The prestigious Order has been awarded merely six times during the current presidential term of H.E. Mr. Bronislaw Komorowski.

In his remarks, H.E. Mr. Bansarn Bunnag said that the diplomatic relations between Thailand and Poland have been well-established for over 40 years. Both countries have continuously promoted and developed closer relationship. During his tour of duty in Warsaw, many activities and events were organized to promote good ties and cooperation between Poland and Thailand in all sectors. This included the exchange of high level visits, notably the first official visit of the Prime Minister of Thailand to Poland in 2012.

H.E. Mr. Bansarn Bunnag also reiterated his sincerest appreciation and gratitude to the President of Poland, Polish Government and the people of the Republic of Poland. The award is a precious gift to Thailand and a solid proof of friendship, as well as the cordial ties between the two countries that continue to expand in the years to come, he concluded.
