During 4 – 31 May 2015, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will organize a Muay Thai Roadshow in 8 cities across China. The roadshow is being jointly-organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Royal Thai Embassy in Beijing, the Royal Thai Consulates-General in Xi’an, Kunming, Qingdao, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Xiamen and Nanning, in cooperation with Thailand Foundation. During the event, Thai boxers from “Lanna Fighting” camp will demonstrate the martial art of Muay Thai as well as teach basic Muay Thai techniques to those who are interested.
Muay Thai Roadshow is among the many activities organized to mark the 40th anniversary of Thailand – China diplomatic relations. The aim of the roadshow is to present the martial art of Muay Thai in its traditional form as well as to promote Thailand’s image and Thainess through Muay Thai. This event builds on last year’s successful roadshow in China where it attracted a lot of attention from the media and local people. Increasing numbers of Chinese come to Thailand seeking more Muay Thai courses while Thai trainers have been invited by Thai boxing gyms in China to give lessons on Muay Thai.
