On May 7, 2015, H.E. General Tanasak Patimapragorn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs had a bilateral meeting with H.E. Mr. Yang Jing, State Councillor and the Secretary General of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China at Buakaew Room, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.  H.E. Mr. Yang Jing is paying a five- day official visit to Thailand as Guest of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to take part in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Thailand and China this year.

During the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and H.E. Mr. Yang Jing expressed satisfaction with the close ties between Thailand and China, marked by the frequent exchange of high-level visits which has further deepened bilateral ties and cooperation.  Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs also expressed gratitude to the Chinese side for the warm welcome extended to Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn during Her Royal Highness’s visit to China in April which is the inaugural activity to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Thai-China relations. The two sides also welcomed the close bilateral economic relations and discussed ways to move forward several on-going projects, particularly the railway and agricultural products cooperation.  They also exchanged views on how to enhance cooperation in regional and multilateral frameworks particularly ASEAN-China Cooperation.

At the conclusion of the meeting, on behalf of the Government of the People’s Republic of China, H.E. Mr. Yang Jing presented computer sets with a value of RMB 920,900 (or 5 million Baht)  to Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn for projects under Her Royal Highness’ patronage to commemorate the auspicious occasion of the 60th Birthday Anniversary of Her Royal Highness this year. Furthermore, the Chinese government also offered 300 training scholarships in the fields of irrigation and energy for Thais.

During the visit, H.E. Mr. Yang Jing also paid a courtesy call on H.E. General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister, and Mr. Pornpetch Vichitcholachai, President of the National Legislative Assembly (NLA). H.E. Mr. Yang Jing is also scheduled to visit the Chonburi industrial park and the Inthanon Royal Agricultural Station in Chiang Mai.
