On 30th April 2015 General Tanasak Patimapragorn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, had a bilateral discussion with Mr. Haoliang Xu, Assistant Secretary-General, Assistant Administrator and Director of the Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific of the UNDP. Also present at the meeting were Mr. Luc Steven, UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative, and Mr. Martin Hart-Hansen, UNDP Deputy Resident Representative. The meeting discussed future partnership between the Royal Thai Government and UNDP.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs commended UNDP on its work and reaffirmed the Royal Thai Government’s commitment to enhance Thailand-UN partnership and cooperation. This was in line with the UNDP Strategic Plan to use Regional Office in Bangkok as Regional hub. Both sides discussed future cooperation, especially under the United Nations Partnership Framework (UNPAF) 2012-2016. Both sides explored the path of future cooperation especially on new UNPAF where emphasis should be placed on strengthening competitiveness, education and innovation for sustainable development, as well as ways to increase the presence of UNDP in Bangkok as a regional hub and to enhance Thailand’s role in South-South Cooperation.
