On 17 March 2015, H.E. Mr. Pitchayaphant Charnbhumidol, Ambassador of Thailand to Brazil, his spouse, officials from the Royal Thai Embassy and the Thai Community in Brasilia organized a ceremony to celebrate the Auspicious Occasion of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s 5th Cycle Birthday Anniversary 2nd April 2015 together with the exhibition of Thailand corner in the central library of National University of Brasilia (UNB). The Rector of UNB, officials from the Ministry of External Relations of Brazil, Ambassadors and members of Diplomatic Corp, Friends of Thailand, press and media as well as professors and university students participated in the said event.
The Thai Ambassador delivered the opening remarks paying tribute to Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and her continuous dedication to improve the livelihood of Thai people and promote development of Thailand in many fields, namely agriculture, education, international relations, food and nutrition as well as science and technology. He also used this auspicious occasion to celebrate the close and cordial ties between Thailand and Brazil throughout the past 55 years of diplomatic relations. The bilateral relations and cooperation have expanded in all areas, be they trade, tourism, education and culture.
In the opening ceremony, the UNB Rector thanked the Embassy for organizing the event in the exhibition room of the central library. This exhibition would benefit the Brazilian students and interested people to learn more and have better understanding about Thailand. The Thai Embassy organized the exhibition with the theme of “Working Princess” reflecting Her Royal Highness’s life-long work dedication and achievements in conjunction with the exhibition of Thailand – Brazil Diplomatic Relations showing pictures of Royal Visits and Thai leaders’ official visits as well as various activities held by the Embassy in the area of politics, trade, art and culture and tourism promotion. Displays of books, materials and DVDs about Thailand were also presented. The exhibition was shown for one week from 17 to 24 March 2015.
