Ambassador of Thailand assumes Chairmanship of ASEAN Committee in Brasilia

            On 5 March 2015 at the Thai Residence, Ambassador Pitchayaphant Charnbhumidol assumed the Chairmanship of the ASEAN Committee in Brasilia (ACB) in a hand-over ceremony from the outgoing Chairperson of ACB, Ambassador Thiri Pyanchi U Tun Nay Linn of Myanmar.
 
            The ACB, which was approved by the ASEAN Secretariat in February 2013, is composed of seven ASEAN member countries present in Brasilia, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. 
 
            After the hand-over ceremony, Ambassador of Thailand chaired the 1st Meeting of the ASEAN Committee in Brasilia (ACB) for the year 2015. He affirmed his willingness to follow-up and coordinate the projects and activities of the ACB in order to raise the profile of the ASEAN-Brazil relations and awareness of ASEAN in Brazil. The meeting gave an opportunity for the ASEAN Heads of Mission to discuss and exchange information and views on the current Brazilian domestic and foreign policy as well as on the possible future cooperation between Brazil and ASEAN. 
 
            The meeting was concluded by a lunch hosted by the Ambassador of Thailand.
