On 11 February 2015, Mr. Andelfo José García González, Ambassador of the  Republic of Colombia to Thailand, paid a courtesy call on General Tanasak Patimapragorn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs.  

    Among the various bilateral issues discussed, they agreed that the First Bilateral Consultations on Matters of Common Interest between Thailand and Colombia held in Bogotá in October 2014 was very successful and meaningful. Thailand’s proposal to establish a mechanism of Joint Commission between the two countries was being positively considered by the Colombian side. The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs invited the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Colombia to revisit Thailand and also expressed his readiness to visit Colombia. He took this opportunity to convey his thank to the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy of Colombia for his invitation to the Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Navy to visit Colombia and to participate in the 4^th International Ship Design and Naval Engineering and the 6^th International Commercial Naval Industry Fair (Colombia Mar) in Cartagena de Indias during 11 - 13 March 2015.  

   The Ambassador of Colombia then informed of Colombian Government’s recent initiative to facilitate tourists from Thailand to Colombia. Thai passport holders who have already obtained a valid U.S. or Schengen visa are now able to enter Colombia without visa. He also informed that the Colombian Government would provide scholarships for tourist guides or tourism journalists from Thailand to participate in a Spanish training course in Colombia in 2015, for the third consecutive year. In addition, the Embassy of Colombia in Thailand also secured a budget to bring a university professor from Colombia to teach Spanish to Thai civil servants for 6 months.
