On 10 October 2014, H.E. Mr. Kiattikhun Chartprasert, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, presided over the Offering Ceremony of the Royal Kathin Robe, graciously bestowed by His Majesty the King through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to the congregation of monks at the Mahabodhi Jetavana Monastery, Ladakh, Jammu-Kashmir, Republic of India.

Also present at the ceremony were H.E. Mr. Chalit Manityakul, Ambassador of Thailand to India; Mr. Manopchai Vongphakdi, Director-General of the Department of South Asian, Middle East and African Affairs; Mrs. Linna Tangthasiri, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Information; Mr. Shri Norbu Gyalson, Member of Legislative Council, Government of Jammu and Kashmir and Mr. Sonam Dorje, Executive Councilor,  Agriculture and Rural Development, Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, as well as over 400 Ladakhi monks and Buddhists.

The Royal Kathin Robe Offering Ceremony at the Mahabodhi Jetavana Monastery, the only Theravada temple in Jammu-Kashmir, fulfilled the aim of promoting constructive interactions between Thais and Indians through Buddhism. The donation from His Majesty the King and the Ministry
of Foreign Affairs as well as Thai and Ladakhi Buddhists totaled 810,180 Indian Rupees (approximately 405,090 Baht).

In addition, the Royal Thai Embassy in New Delhi donated 1,050,000 Indian Rupees (approximately 600,000 Baht) to the Chief Abbot of the Mahabodhi Jetavana Monastery to support the construction of the Grand Temple, which will be the first temple to be built in Thai architectural style in Ladakh.
