On 2 October 2014, H.E. Mr. Pitchayaphant Charnbhumidol, Ambassador of Thailand to Brazil, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Alexandre  Antonio Tombini,  Governor of the Central Bank of Brazil.
During the meeting, Ambassador of Thailand exchanged views with the Brazilian Central Bank Governor on the monetary and financial policy, rules and regulations of the Brazil’s National Financial System and the promotion of interactions on economy, monetary and finance between Brazil and Thailand.
Ambassador Charnbhumidol also took this opportunity to inform the Governor that both continents (Latin America and Southeast Asia) can strengthen and further develop economic ties and connectivity. With more than 600 million people in Southeast Asia and around 200 million Brazilian populations, both sides could promote more economic and financial cooperation. Lastly, he also mentioned that Thailand and the ASEAN member countries will together become ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) by the end of 2015. The AEC will help increase the free flows of capital, goods, services, investment and skilled labor that will further boost economic growth of Thailand and ASEAN as well as prosperity of the whole region.
