On 23 September 2014, H.E. Mr. Pitchayaphant Charnbhumidol, Ambassador of Thailand to Brazil, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Clelio Campolina Diniz, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation.

 

            During the meeting, bilateral cooperation in the areas of science and technology especially on agriculture, ethanol development and biodiversity between Thailand and Brazil was discussed. Both countries can be a hub of each other in Asia and Latin America, respectively. They felt the needs for both sides to explore possibilities to cooperate in “Science without Border” Programs of the Brazilian government. Such a project can strengthen people-to-people ties and exchanges in the fields of science and technology. Information on transportation connectivity in the two countries and regions was also exchanged for mutual benefits. Ambassador Charnbhumidol further informed the Minister that in 2015 ASEAN member countries would become an ASEAN Economic Community with more than 600 million people. This would enhance free flows of goods, investment, services and skilled labour in the region.
