Royal Thai Embassy, Colombo, in collaboration with Kandy City Centre,  Buddhist Channel and Thai Airways Sri Lanka,  held a photographic exhibition entitled “Sri Lanka- Thailand: Two Nations, One Family” on 11-14 September 2014 at Kandy City Centre (KCC), Kandy.  The exhibition, which displayed 60 photographs taken by Ms. Jiratha Narapittayanart, a young Thai photographer, aims to promote the unique cordial and long-standing cultural and religious relations between Thailand and Sri Lanka and could be the solid foundation for strengthening and deepening the bilateral cooperation between the two countries in all aspects.

 

            The Opening of the Exhibition has taken place on 11 September 2014. Mrs. Natnapang Damrongsoontornchai, Chargé d’ Affaires of the Royal Thai Embassy delivered welcoming remarks and Honourable Tikiri Kobbekaduwa, Central Province Governor, has graciously presided over the opening ceremony. The 50 distinguished guests, including Ven. Wedaruwe Sri Upali Thera, Chief Incumbent of Asgiriya Gedige Temple, Mr. Mahendra Ratwatte, Mayor of Kandy, Assistant High Commissioner of Indian Kandy, Ms. Soraya Homchuen from Tourism Authority of Thailand, Mumbai Office, and 

Mr. Thongchai Tungkasareeruk, Thai Airways Manager in Sri Lanka, leading travel agents and media also participated in the opening ceremony.

 

            The Royal Thai Embassy first organized “Sri Lanka-Thailand: Two Nations, One Family” exhibition in Colombo on 6-10 September 2013. Throughout 4 days of the exhibition in Kandy, 2,000 viewers from Sri Lanka and overseas visited the Exhibition. In this occasion, the photograph books and postcards especially made for the exhibition were distributed to the visitors. The Embassy would like to express the appreciation for all supports in this exhibition, including all visitors.
