On July 18, 2014, H.E. Dr. Itti Ditbanjong, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Russian Federation discussed with Mr. Chaiwat Limwantha, Governor of Kanchanaburi Province at the Royal Thai Embassy in Moscow.

The meeting was also attended by  the provincial Deputy Governor, the Deputy Director - General of the Department of Tourism, and the executives of the provincial chamber of commerce and industry together with Ms. Kalayanee Sirikul, Minister (commercial affairs) and Mr. Pasakorn Supannapan, Director of the Office of Tourism Authority of Thailand in Russia.

The Thai Ambassador shared the views with the Governor that Russia could be both a potential trading partner and an important tourism market for the Kanchanaburi Province. This is due to the fact that Russian tourists tend to travel more, beyond their favorite seaside resort cities, to other tourist destinations in Thailand.

The Thai Ambassador, in this regard, reiterated the importance given by Russian Tourism Authority on the safety of tourism, therefore the strict measures and implementation of rules and law to reassure the safety of these tourists must be prioritized by the Province.

The Thai Ambassador, together with the Office of the Commercial Affairs in Moscow, also suggested that, among the Province’s export products, canned pineapple, rubber and beef meat are potential to serve the need of the Russian market. He also recommended that the Province cooperate with the local private sectors to showcase their local products at hotels or other public places as it would help gain interests by some businessmen who are part of   the Russian tourists.

During this visit, the Royal Thai Embassy and the Office of the Commercial Affairs also arranged a business matching for the Thai businessmen with their Russian counterparts.
