Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand to Visit China for the 2^nd  China-Thailand Strategic Dialogue

11 - 12 July 2014, held in Beijing

                    Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in his capacity as Acting Foreign Minister is scheduled to visit China for the 2^nd China-Thailand Strategic Dialogue on 11 – 12 July 2014 at the invitation of Mr. Liu Zhenmin, the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of China in Beijing. On this occasion, the Permanent Secretary will also pay a courtesy call on Mr. Wang Yi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of China.

                   The China - Thailand Strategic Dialogue is an important bilateral mechanism in promoting strategic partnership between Thailand and China. It also represents the close cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of both countries. At this meeting, both sides will  focus on the implementation the Joint Action Plan on China - Thailand Strategic Cooperation (2012- 2016) and the Long-Term Program on the Development of China - Thailand Relations, a result of the visit to Thailand by the Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China in October 2013. Other important topics of discussion include the preparation of activities to commemorate the 40^th Anniversary on the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and China in 2015, the exchange of views on regional and international issues of mutual interest, and the strengthening of strategic partnership between ASEAN and China.

                   Thailand hosted the First Thailand - China Strategic Dialogue in August 2013 in Bangkok.
