On 28 June 2014, Consul-General Jackrid Kanjanasoon attended the closing ceremony for the International English Debate Competition – Dato’  Dr. Mahmood Merican Challenge Trophy and Cultural Exchange Workshop at Sultan Ismail College (SIC), Kota Bharu. Tuan Haji Abdul Aziz Bin Abdullah, Deputy Director of Education, Kelantan presided over the event, which was attended by 6 secondary schools from Kelantan and 3 from Thailand – Attarkiah Islamiah School, Narathiwat / Benjamarachutit School, Pattani / Sungai Kolok School, Narathiwat. The competition was held to promote English language training for the students and also to lay a foundation for academic cooperation between schools in Kelantan and Thailand. The event was sponsored by Dato’  Dr. Mahmood Merican, Chairman of Sultan Ismail College Foundation.
