Madam Jiraporn Jitpatima hosted “Coffee Morning” for spouses of the diplomatic corps in Singapore at the Ambassador’s Residence

            On 19 June 2014 at 10.30-14.00 hrs., Mrs. Jiraporn Jitpatima, spouse of Mr. Marut Jitpatima, Ambassador of Thailand to Singapore, hosted “Coffee Morning” for spouses of foreign Ambassadors and diplomats based in Singapore. The event featured Thai cooking and fruit carving demonstration, where guests learned to cook Thai-style chive dumplings (Kanom Gui Chai) and chicken-stuffed sago (Sakoo Sai Gai). The guests were also treated to a wide array of Thai dishes; namely papaya salad (Som Tum), Pad Thai with shrimp, Thai-style chicken wings, Larb Gai, Thai sticky rice, traditional Thai desserts and fruits. Joining the event were over 30 spouses of diplomats from 28 countries; namely, Angola, Austria, Brazil, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, France, Germany, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, South Korea, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Myanmar, the Netherlands, Oman, Pakistan, Panama, Peru, Portugal, San Marino, Switzerland, Ukraine, United States, Uzbekistan, Venezuela and Vietnam. 

            The “Coffee Morning” was also supported by the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s Singapore Office, which offered two return tickets between Singapore and Samui plus accommodation as lucky draw prizes. The guests also received Thai tourism pamphlets and a briefing on the lifting of curfews nationwide in Thailand, as well as on interesting tourist destinations. Madam Jiraporn also gave the historical account of the Royal Thai Embassy’s premise, and spoke about situation in Thailand and Thai food, culture, and traditions.

            The event was a successful and pleasant gathering. The guests enjoyed learning about Thai recipes and talking about tourist attractions in Thailand.
