On 15 June 2014, the Royal Thai Embassy, Colombo and the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Mumbai Office, jointly organized the first MuayThai  workshop in Sri Lanka, at Hilton Colombo Hotel. 

The workshop was joined by 40 participants and demonstrated by  Mr. AriyawatBusarabavonwongs (PremFairtex), the Managing Director of Fairtex Sports Club & Hotel Company and DekbungjongFairtex, the young Muay Thai’s rising starfrom the Fairtex Gym.  

The participants comprised of guests of the Hilton Hotel and members of  theMuay Thai Club Colombo (M.C.C.). The M.C.C. group also participated in the 1stMuayBoran World Championship in Ayutthaya Province, Thailand in March this year and won a bronze medal. The workshop at HiltonColombo also reflects the increasing of popularity of Muay Thai in Sri Lanka. 

 Apart from the workshop, the boxers from Fairtex Group also demonstrated Muay Thai at Thai Festival, organized by the Royal Thai Embassy, Colombo, at the Hilton Hotel on 16 June 2014.
